Call for Submissions

Red Cedar Undergraduate Research (ReCUR), a new journal publishing undergraduate research and creative work from Michigan State University students, seeks submissions for its inaugural issue, to be published in May 2010.

ReCUR seeks research findings in all fields, which may be submitted in the form of:

  • Research Articles, which describe substantial completed undergraduate research projects
  • Research Notes, which communicate key findings that in sum do not add up to a full article

ReCUR also seeks submissions of original creative work in the form of:

  • Poetry
  • Short Creative Prose
  • Musical Compositions
  • Visual Art
  • Theater and Film

For the inaugural May issue, submissions will be accepted from undergraduates who are members of the Honors College, or from individuals who graduated from the Honors College no more than one semester prior to the submission deadline. Research and creative work must be original, previously unpublished, completed predominately by the primary student author(s), and completed while the primary author(s) were undergraduate students at MSU. Subsequently, the November issue will invite submissions from the top University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF) presentations.

Students interested in having their previously published work briefly described in the "Honors College Literature Highlights" section of the journal should contact the editors at recur@msu.edu.

The submission deadline is 5:00 p.m. on January 14, 2010. Please look at the formatting guidelines for your category of submission provided on the Submissions page. Failure to follow the formatting guidelines may prevent review of your contribution. All submissions will go through a peer-review process, with final revisions of accepted contributions due on or before March 18, 2010.

Note: We expect to publish a total of approximately three to five works in each category (Research Articles, Research Notes, and Creative Works) outlined above.
